Heather Marie is a clinical psychologist who frequently uses gut-directed hypnotherapy in her practice. She is compassionate, accepting and provides a holistic approach to therapy.
Heather has a keen interest in new developments to our understanding of the relationship between the brain and the gut including the influence of mental health and wellbeing. She has spent 25 years working in hospital and private practice settings with patients with acute and chronic health problems.
Heather is involved in academia and was a guest lecturer at Murdoch University before moving to Melbourne. She is a PhD candidate in the area of clinical psychology with a thesis focus on emotional processing after traumatic brain injury.
Heather completed her undergraduate and Master of Clinical Psychology degrees at Murdoch University. She holds memberships with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Heather aims to assist patients gain a greater sense of clarity about their physical and psychological health to help reduce or better manage their gastrointestinal symptoms.
Heather sees adolescents and adults at the Mind + Gut Clinic in St Kilda East and Box Hill, Victoria.
