Deborah Brooks

Deborah Brooks is a psychologist who enjoys using gut-directed hypnotherapy in her practice. She is an experienced member of our team and brings a wealth of knowledge to her work. Deborah has clinical experience in managing the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease and other gastrointestinal complaints as well as chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. She has worked in community health, private practice and university counselling services with individuals, couples and families. Deborah completed her Master of Psychology (Clinical) at Cairnmillar Institute in 2015 exploring the association between chronic fatigue syndrome and post traumatic growth. She holds memberships with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and is a Clinical Registrar. Deborah works from an evidence based Cognitive Behavioural framework incorporating narrative and mindfulness based approaches. She believes that adaptation to chronic illness is about more than symptom management, it’s also about being able to live a full and meaningful life while managing these conditions. Deborah sees adolescents and adults at the Mind + Gut Clinic in Malvern, Victoria.
