Emily Wynter is a psychologist and frequently uses gut-directed hypnotherapy in her practice. She is an expert member of our team who brings a warm, thoughtful and practical approach to her work. She has clinical experience working with various functional gastrointestinal disorders having spent several years with the highly specialised Neurogastrointestinal Centre at Queen Mary University of London. During this time, Emily ran a cognitive behavioural treatment program and completed research focusing on the effectiveness of psychological therapy for behavioural belching disorders. She has a background working in a wide range of mental health settings including community health, private practice, crisis support and university counselling services. Emily successfully completed her postgraduate qualifications in Psychology at Bond University. She holds memberships with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Emily enjoys tailoring interventions towards individual patient goals and typically incorporates cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness based strategies and enhanced relaxation techniques into her practice. She has a strong interest in the connection between the brain and the gut and draws on a multidisciplinary approach for the best outcome for her patients.
