Jessica Wood is an Accredited Practising Dietitian who has a special interest in providing evidence based care to patients who live with gastrointestinal disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome and coeliac disease.
Since finishing her Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics from Monash University she has worked across a broad spectrum of Victoria’s health care system including regional and private hospitals. She currently works in a large public tertiary hospital treating patients with gastrointestinal disorders. Her role is to provide clinical nutrition assessment, dietary treatment and counselling for patients with inflammatory bowel disease and functional gastrointestinal disorders.
Jessica has finished studying her Masters of Clinical Research Methods at Monash University. In 2017 she received a public grant to complete her masters research project which explored the relationship of body composition in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. She is now undertaking a PhD with Monash University investigating the potential role of emulsifiers in the pathogenesis of Crohn’s disease. Jessica has published her scientific work in peer review journals. She is the founder of the Dietitians Crohn’s and Colitis Australian Network and has contributed to Australian wide guidelines treating patients with Crohn’s disease. Her passion is to contribute high quality research to the body of evidence related to nutrition intervention in patients with gastrointestinal disorders and translate this into her clinical practice.
