Dakota Rhys-Jones is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a keen interest in the effects of diet on gastrointestinal conditions. She completed a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics from Monash University in 2017 and has since worked across both regional and metropolitan settings, including bariatric surgery, chronic disease management, gastrointestinal health, Indigenous health, and research.

Dakota worked with the Monash FODMAP team at Monash University, where she developed expert knowledge of the low FODMAP diet and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). She also coordinated clinical trials between the Department of Gastroenterology and the Hypertension Research Laboratory, sparking an interest in nutrition research and translating findings into evidence-based practice.

She is currently completing a PhD at Monash University, investigating the effects of diet in inflammatory bowel disease, with a focus on individuals living with an ileoanal pouch. Dakota’s research has been recognised at national conferences and published in international peer-reviewed journals.

Dakota combines her research knowledge with empathetic nature to ensure patients feels safe in her care and have the best possible outcomes. She sees children, adolescents and adults at Mind + Gut.
